Today, we will take you to 6+1 beautiful villages in Cyprus, a must-visit when you come to our island. Let’s see them:
Pissouri is part of the “tourist villages” of Cyprus, as many tourists prefer it due to the hotel unit of Columbia Beach Resort. It is located in Limassol district, on the Limassol – Paphos highway, and is a place that has many things to do. The blue flag awarded beaches, but also the food in the many taverns offered by the village is Must. Don’t miss an excursion to Petra tou Romiou – about 15 minutes away. The Legend says that the Goddess Aphrodite was born there, it’s worth seeing.
A Limassol’s traditional village, ideal for two-day excursions! It is located in the Krasochoria region, so there are many wineries that you can see (not only in Lofou but also in the adjoining villages). The traditional taverns also invite you for wonderful Cypriot mezes.
Lefkara, particularly Pano Lefkara, is one of the famous villages of Cyprus. It is famous for its Cypriot folk needlecraft – the famous Lefkaritiko – but also its picturesqueness. The paved streets and the houses’ traditional architecture place it among the most picturesque villages. It is approximately located in the center of the Nicosia – Limassol highway.
It is located in Τroodos area and is one of the most visited villages all year round. You can visit the Caledonia Waterfall in the adjoining areas, the Monastery Trooditissa and Olympus (the highest point of Cyprus).
Another beautiful village, one of our favorites! It is located in Paphos, specifically in Polis Chrysochous. There are also hotel units, so tourism is increased during the summer months. Relax on the beach, taste amazing Cypriot cuisine, and have fun at the clubs. A cruise to Akamas and hiking in the Avacas Gorge shall be first on your list.
In Limassol District, you will find another equally beautiful village, picturesque and traditional. It is ideal to go at noon to enjoy your lunch in one of the village’s taverns, combining it with an afternoon walk in the square. There, you’ll see the Church of the Holy Cross. Make sure to buy “Arkatena” – a traditional delicious bread!
A beautiful village of Nicosia, built on the slopes of a mountain. There are small hotels that accommodate locals and foreigners all year round, and it is ideal for relaxation. In Kalopanayiotis, you will find the Monastery Agios Ioannis Lampadistis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. If you want an excursion to the neighboring areas, we suggest you go to Kykkos Monastery, one of the most beautiful and richest monasteries of the island. The distance from Kalopanayiotis is 19.9km, about half an hour. Also, in the village, you will find nature trails ideal for hiking.
